Lightweight Inflatable Kayak Looks Suspiciously Like Tire Inner Tube
I never heard of Alpacka kayaks until I read this post on Mountain Hardwear’s new blog about a trip circumnavigating Steamboat while fielding stares from people standing on downtown bridges. The Alpacka packraft rolls up to about the size of a 3-person tent and weighs only 4 pounds. Add the Alpacka deck for 11-ounces more and you can motor through rapids in the inflatable bathtub. It’s a pretty cool little boat, but it’ll set you back almost $800. It’s a lot of money, but apparently it’s more than just a pool toy—the little boat is popular for long backpacking trips and gaining access to unclimbed ranges.

[…] You’re going to be able to pass jet skis in this monster. The Wenonah Minnesota 4 is a 23-foot-long canoe that’s the yacht of paddling. There’s room for four paddlers to sit and at least a couple more can kneel if you get creative. If you see your friend paddling his inflatable kayak, you can run it over like a supertanker through a rowboat. At 23ft the Wenonah Minnesota 4 still only weighs 64lb in the Kevlar Ultra-light option, it sells for $2900. By Rocky Thompson […]
