Mission Antarctic, starring Xavier de Le Rue and Backcountry.com Athlete Renan Ozturk is underway. Xavier was in Antarctica four years ago as part of a Swatch expedition, and this time he’s bringing Renan (who only had three days of downtime following his Oman expedition) for some video/art input. The crew sailed across the Drake Passage to the Antarctic Peninsula, where they’ll spend about three weeks skiing, filming, and bobbing in the Southern Ocean on their little sailboat.

I wonder if these guys all actually speak English when they’re hanging or if they just turn it on when they have to film. Xavier de le Rue and the TimeLine crew released a look at how they’re spending the summer drinking beer, hanging out on boats, biking, and riding mini ramps. They named it Beer O’Clock because when you’re a professional skier, all of summer is happy hour. I suppose the same thing is true for schoolteachers.

TimeLine films and Xavier de Le Rue handed us six minutes of their best footage shot over the past few years in their latest short video. They also included some footage for an upcoming film, but hey, we already saw the six best minutes. It’s like promoting a horror movie by showing the ending where the villain’s head explodes. That said, it’s well worth your time to watch it.

How does one get Xavier de Le Rue’s job? I suppose it requires being an excellent snowboarder and somewhat photogenic. I’m out on both counts. This guy rolls around all winter shooting videos, getting a bit of cash from his sponsors, and making them happy with his work. “Right place, right time” is from a day heliboarding in Engelberg.

Xavier de Le Rue and the Timeline crew are back from frozen Europe with another free video online. In this case they roll on the Glacier Express train scoping cliffs that are ripe for dropping. I love train travel, too, though more because I can drink beer while traveling than because I can take the downtime to look for cliffs to jump off.

Xavier de le Rue and his crew from Timeline Films released the full-length version of their film This is My Winter after posting webisodes through last season. Take a half-hour off to watch the video, meet the crew, and ponder how these guys can spend an entire year making a snowboarding film and then give it away for free on the internet when it’s done.

The upcoming film This is My Winter featuring shredmaster Xavier de Le Rue along with Mathieu Crepel, Andreas Fransson and Samuel Anthamatten is out on the 28^th of this month. To build anticipation, the crew has released this 2-minute helmet cam teaser. If you missed the first teaser, it’s here.
