Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

If you’re speeding on a county road in Utah, does a Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management ranger have the legal right to stop and give you a ticket? The state of Utah says no, and it just passed a law formalizing its position. But don’t get excited, it’s not your back that Utah’s [ more... ]

Bad Decision Making in Utah Leads to Bison Trouble

Monday, April 1st, 2013

bison_ram

A man on Antelope Island in Utah thought that well, sure, bison are cool, but they’d be cooler if they were more active. So, to inspire some activity, he began shaking the fence and throwing rocks at the animals. But, the story has a happy ending. The animal ran up and rammed the man against the fence. The series of photos was shot by Wayne Ebenroth who was on hand to cheer for his wife during a race, the Antelope Island Buffalo Run. He noticed the idiot with the rocks and shot some photos reminding us all that justice can be swift in the animal kingdom.

Mini Plane Crash Land

Wednesday, February 13th, 2013

Do you adventure in small planes? Did you see the movie Flight? What about Alive? This is a much smaller plane. And they say the smaller the plane, the more likely the crash. I’m surprised those little ultralights don’t come with body bags packed under the seat. Next time you’re in a bar in Alaska and some guy offers you a lift to the other side of the state, think about this video. During a flight over Utah aboard a Cessna 175, the group experience engine trouble and had to look for a straightaway to crash land. They didn’t find one, but don’t worry. They still crash landed. And it was all caught on video.

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

A soap opera of Utah ski resorts played out in court yesterday when a judge dismissed several key parts of a lawsuit spat between Park City Mountain Resort and Talisker Corporation. The issue is that Talisker Corp leases the land PCMR is built on, but that lease ran out in April 2011 and PCMR didn’t [ more... ]

Alta 75th Anniversary Ale

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

In honor of their 75th anniversary, Alta has teamed up with Wasatch Brewing to create an anniversary ale. Their blog post making the announcement says that in 1878, of the 47 businesses listed in the Alta directory 26 were saloons. Times change, huh? I have high hopes for Utah and their liquor laws. Perhaps by [ more... ]

Ski Link Just a Rush to Boost Property Values?

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

This photo posted on the Stop Ski Link Now Facebook page purports to detail just where the Ski Link would pick up at the Canyons and where you’d have to park your car at the Canyons resort to get to Ski Link. If accurate, it’s perhaps the most logical argument I’ve seen against the development [ more... ]
