Take a tour of the area where the SkiLink would connect Canyons resort in Park City with Big Cottonwood Canyon. Straight Chuter pulled together a video of the land and setup some maps on their site. Two studies have found that over 90% of the locals are opposed to the link. The most surprising part for me is the extent of private property that would border the lift. Can you imagine how excited developers must be to get this thing built? They’ve promised that the link wouldn’t give skiers backcountry access, but with so much money on the hook for developers, what’s to stop them from picking people up from private property and ferrying them into the resort? I’m sure the folks in government would be happy to oblige them with enough campaign donations.
