BMX 16ft Full Pipe

Monday, November 19th, 2012

I’d tell you what time to jump for the full pipe ride, but then you’d miss all the insane riding before it. Insane. Red Bull’s Full Circle is a BMX situation that sends a handful of their athlestes around the world on a ‘ride and seek’ series. This one takes place in Wyoming, on what I’m guessing is a former ICBM base.

Rube Goldberg Red Bull Athlete Machine

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

I wonder how many times that guy had to skydive to get this right. It’s not done in one continuous take, so I suppose only until the skater nailed his grind. Still, must have been awkward when he missed it the first few times. Also, it would have been fun to go out drinking in the desert with these guys after they finished shooting the video. An impressive piece from the Red Bull nation.

Insane: Descenso del Condor in La Paz

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

Red Bull again! They’ve made enough money to buy every cool sport. What the hell is Gatorade doing with their money? Sponsoring the NFL? Hardly seems like a good way to spend untold sums of cash. Instead, follow Red Bull’s lead and takeover space suit innovation for NASA and run these madman downhill urban bike [ more... ]

A Prospecting Idaho Update

Smith Optics was nice enough to roll out another webisode of their Prospecting Idaho series, which follows a group of skiers around the state as they find time to ski some incredible lines between drinking beers. The life of a pro skier is rough.

I swear, Red Bull must employ thousands of these guys. If Red Bull were to buy the Principality of Sealand and start their own country, they would own the Winter Olympics.

Wingsuit Flyers Buzz Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia

Monday, November 5th, 2012

Two guys from the Red Bull crew somehow convinced Malaysia’s government to let them fly past the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in their wingsuits. Money conquers all, I suppose. I wonder how many people working in their offices in the towers saw the guys fly past and thought they were witnessing a couple jumpers.

The Felix Baumgartner Video

Monday, October 15th, 2012

I’m not letting Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Tweet ruin my Felix high: “The “Edge of Space” jump: A corresponding fall to a schoolroom globe begins 1 millimeter above its surface. I’m just saying.”

Sure, maybe it wasn’t ‘space’ but it was a pretty nerve-racking feat. You can see a tiny blip in this video that looks like a spinning, very far away speck plummeting to Earth at a tremendous rate. There were a couple hiccups, including Baumgartner saying his helmet wasn’t heating up during the asscnet, and of course the several days of delays. At least he didn’t get halfway up and realize he’d forgotten his chute; that would have been rough.

Red Bull Rampage Finals from Virgin, Utah

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

How do you even practice for this event? Do you drive cars over cliffs, or maybe just throw yourself into oncoming traffic? I suppose that having these cliffs nearby might be part of the reason that a Utah local took home second place in the Rampage. The top spot went to a Canadian. It makes sense, no one can survive training for this event for too long. It’s bound to catch up to you.

The Hardest 400m Race in the World

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Of course Red Bull sponsors a footrace up the ski jump in Planica, Slovenia. It’s only a 400m race, but it took the men’s winner over five minutes to finish. The walk back down must be a bummer. That’s the problem with running or hiking. You walk back down. At least with skiing and biking you get the fun of riding down after the work of going up.

Red Bull Terminates Contract with Tanner Hall

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

How long do you have to wait to terminate a contract with an athlete after they suffer a major injury that takes them out of comps? Two years, if you’re Red Bull. Dropping them earlier than that would be unseemly. Twenty-eight-year-old Tanner Hall announced on Twitter that the genius marketers of sugar water have cut [ more... ]

Red Bull Supernatural Highlights

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Tomorrow the Red Bull Supernatural will air on NBC. Today we can see the top helmet cam footage with a gratuitous of Contour product placement. NBC put the show on 1 in the afternoon on a Friday, huh? I suppose that’s the hot time for airing blockbuster shows now.
