Thursday, May 16th, 2013

San Francisco area photographer Eric Dugan managed to get an amazing image: a blackbird catching a ride on a red-tailed hawk’s back in mid-air. You can see the strange series on Eric’s website. The story’s gotten a bit of traction, and appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle this week. The blackbird wasn’t a hop on, [ more... ]

Wednesday, April 10th, 2013

These shots hit the inbox (rthompson@backcountry.com) with the following fantastic note: With apologies to Jack Handy – If you drop your kayak paddle into molten lava forget about it man because it’s gone. A few kayakers more interested in thrills than self-preservation braved 190F water to paddle in and get these shots. The photo work [ more... ]

Death From Above in Super Slo-mo

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

I watched this video no fewer than ten times last week and can’t believe I forgot to share it. It’s some kind of ad for a camera that can shoot 1000 frames per second, though I wonder how many frames they had to shoot before getting this video. I can just imagine how long it’d take my computer to import a two-hour video shot from this camera, though it’d be worth it to see some of my own bike/ski crashes replayed at mega-graceless speed.

Busy at work? Me too. Take a minute to check out Megan Cump’s badass photos and get a dose of wildness. I’d like to stumble onto this bloody scene at night. The fox would probably scurry off leaving me and my friends wonder where all this blood came from. via Good Frames Won’t Save Bad [ more... ]
