Friday, March 15th, 2013

While the Yellowstones of the world are grabbing headlines for budget cuts during the sequester, federal wilderness has seen the threat of under-budgeting for several years. In the Northwest, more than 11 million acres of mountains, forests, and other wild places are designated as wilderness areas. And in much of it, the thousands of miles [ more... ]

Mountain Biking Ice-Covered Bobsled Track

Monday, March 11th, 2013

This very German bike company is promoting their new bike with a very German YouTube video of two guys riding down an icy bobsled track. Their video is called “The new Radon Slide 130 29″ is chasing James Bond 007 in the bob run!” and it doesn’t have any James Bond footage, but it does have a minute of two guys sitting on a couch drinking beers together. It’s all very German.

A congressman who gets it? Hallelujah! Red Bull Rampage Finals from Virgin, Utah

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

How do you even practice for this event? Do you drive cars over cliffs, or maybe just throw yourself into oncoming traffic? I suppose that having these cliffs nearby might be part of the reason that a Utah local took home second place in the Rampage. The top spot went to a Canadian. It makes sense, no one can survive training for this event for too long. It’s bound to catch up to you.

Friday, July 6th, 2012

But it’s still not all the access we want. A new rule means individual park superintendents can now allow bikes on park roads that are closed to motorists: fire roads, maintenance roads. Bikes are already okay on roads open to cars, but they still won’t be allowed on most trails. “The National Park Service will [ more... ]
