The Barkley Mountain Marathon is Awesome and Awful

The New York Times covered the Barkley Mountain Marathon, a 100-mile footrace through the hills of eastern Tennessee that is nearly impossible to enter and even more difficult to finish. 101-Year-Old Marathoner to Retire

Following next month’s Hong Kong Marathon, Fauja “The Turbaned Tornado” Singh will retire from marathoning, an activity he took up at the age of 89. Texas Marathon Winner Disqualified for Not Registering

Scott Downard had no intention of running the Cowtown Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas, but when a friend who’d registered was unable to run, he pinned on his number and took off. 365 Marathons in 365 Days
