Hunter Catches Flying Quail in Bare Hand

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Good thing no one took a shot at this quail right as he was catching it. This would have been a very different video. The fact that the video is being used to market a book called The Real Win, a story of backup quarterback for the 49ers Colt McCoy’s “personal experiences and a close study of Scripture” make me wonder if this is some kind of fake vid meant to go viral, but then I have to hope that people trying to sell a religious book wouldn’t turn to fakery to sell their wares. I don’t think it would go over all that well if they were found out.

Last week a hunter was mauled by a grizzly in Idaho’s Centennial Mountains. The hunter, Gary Detwiler, said that his hunting partner, James Kindy, had shot a six-point bull elk just before dusk. But it wasn’t a clean kill — the elk had wandered off. Guess what? Hunting in the morning is wise for lots [ more... ]

Deer Gun Season

Monday, November 28th, 2011

It’s deer hunting season across much of the U.S. And with unseasonably warm weather, you may be more likely to head out for some fall hikes or mountain bike rides on public land that is shared with hunters. This is a friendly reminder not to wear your antlered bike helmet or medieval deer-pelt cloak while [ more... ]
