800ft BASE Snowmobile Send-Off

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

Jim Rippey joins Erik Roner in giving his friend and mentor Shane McConkey’s snowmobile a fitting send off. The duo took Shane McConkey’s old Polaris off an 800ft cliff in Canada. (Don’t worry, they cleaned up afterwards.) Roner took to Reddit the same day the video came out to answer questions.

Roner Does Squaw

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

Coming off a broken femur in Alaska at the end of last season, Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner offers a lesson on how to take down Squaw Valley. It’s a look back at some of the days of early base jumping with Saucer Boy, clearly one of Roner’s inspirations. Hot tubs, wind tunnels, and swimming Lake Tahoe. All that’s missing is the $7 ATM fee in the casinos.

Roner Vison: Umbrella Skydive

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner goes Mary Poppins in the latest Roner Vision when he takes a hot air balloon up high enough to try floating down on an umbrella. Ah, the life of a skier off-season, and Roner had plenty of time to come up with stuff like this since his off season lasted for 8 months after a broken femur ended last year prematurely. …if you want to get right to the jump, it begins at about 4:33.

Ronervision from Australia

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner shattered his femur two months ago. He decided to go to Australia to meet up with the Nitro Circus gang anyway. It looks like Erik’s fate would befall other members of the Nitro Circus family there on the ramps. Does watching these guys go to work make anyone else mad at their high school guidance counselors?

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner heads to Valdez in the latest episode of Roner Vision. He bags some great lines and skis where no one’s ever been before (except, he aptly points out, the cameraman who’s filming him). Then he takes a terrible fall and ends up in the hospital with a broken femur, but you’ll find that the guy’s spirit is incredible. Get well soon, Erik!

Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner has released another of his Roner Vision videos, and this one actually has skiing in it. Nitro Circus Movie in 3D

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

The Nitro Circus crew, including Backcountry.com Athlete Erik Roner, has released the trailer for their upcoming 3D movie. It looks to include lots of things with engines (as you might expect), but the clip that made my palms sweat was the BMX front flip between skyscrapers. Their tagline “The Crew That Makes Bad Ideas a Reality” really nails it.
