Climbing El Dorado State Park with Cedar Wright

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

Backcountry.com Athlete Cedar Wright pays his bills with a check from Blue Water ropes in this video where he heads out to climb his current hometown of Boulder on a winter day. For a minute there I thought I had a second tab open on my browser playing another video, but no, all that sound was coming from  this short film made by Cedar. As far as climbing films go it has it all: climbing, pug tossing, ropes, the list goes on.

Backcountry.com Athlete Cedar Wright put together this short video for the class graduating from Khumbu Climbing School. The school was established in 2004 to teach mountaineering to Sherpas, and every year there are Sherpa deaths that could be avoided with proper training.

From Cedar:

To give you an idea of how important it is to provide climbing education to the Sherpas, this year we had a five time everest Summiter who didn’t know how to tie a figure eight, the basic climbing knot for tying into a harness.

By all accounts, the school’s been a tremendous success. You can learn more about it at the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation.
