Injinji: The Glove Sock

Gloves are a logical choice on days you’ll need to shift gears, adjust backpack straps, or otherwise access the dexterity of your fingers in the cold. Mittens keep your fingers together to share warmth, and Lobster claw gloves make for awkward comparisons to sweaty-handed Star Trek creatures. This is all old news. The $16 Injinji Socks are the new. They have separate toes, but applying the logic of gloves vs mittens doesn’t work in this case. In fact, if someone can offer one advantage to foot gloves over foot mittens, I’d like to hear it (and it better not involve your friend who can spark a lighter with her feet). I guess they’d be good for throwing ninja stars with your feet, but try your best not to reference ninjas in your reason for segregating toes.

Dude, if you haven’t worn them? Then get a pair!
They stop nearly all blisters. I have 4, yes, 4 pairs of them. I won’t wear any other socks now.
And, oh yeah…they keep your feet warmer too. I am sure my husband appreciates not having the ‘feet of death’ on his legs.

I just love socks with separate toes, it’s just so comfortable to wear!

They are comfortable. Beyond that though, I like them with Five Fingers. Just a little too gross sweating in those things w/o socks on.

Under the mitten vs. glove analysis they actually wouldn’t keep your feet warmer than normal quality socks, but it is true they’re made to stop blisters on toes (for those who get blisters from their toes rubbing together. I’ve seen them at REI trying to be hocked as a backpacking thing, but the only people I’ve ever talked to who had them were runners.

As Sarbar noted… the big advantage is suppression of blisters. This is especially useful to people like me who have weird toes (I have both morton and hammer toes). Combined with my Inov-8 shoes I can go days with no blisters! No additional wrapping, taping, powders or gels. This is a first for me. These socks took some getting used to. The first several times I wore them I was very aware that the socks were between my toes and it drove me crazy… but after a number of days wearing these socks around town, and a number of days on the trail I got used to them. I still notice them for the first 30 minutes or so, but then I forgot I am wearing them until the end of the day when I find my feet are still in good shape.

Bjornar, they make the socks in a wool version - those are perfect for hikers. (They are full crews) I also have the Cool-Max version as well. Quite a few PCT thru-hikers wore them this year as well.
As for keeping toes warmer? For me they do. I normally have very icy feet/toes. With them on I don’t have numb toes in the morning when hiking.

Actually, they do keep your (or at least my) feet warmer… and here’s why… my feet tend to be warm anyways. If I exert myself the ‘mitten effect’ of normal socks takes over and my feet are bathed in sweat… especially my toes. Then, when I settle down the wetness makes things cold. However, Injini’s #1 don’t cause my feet to overheat in the first place, and #2 wick moisture away from between my toes. This results in better thermal regulation of my feet. It’s king of like enjoying the advantage that hobbit’s have naturally.

These socks are great - I run ultra-marathons.
I bought these socks to try and stop the blisters - I wore these socks for all my training, blisters reduced. I wore them for a 50 miles race (8hrs 2min 32sec) NO BLISTERS!
These socks are great -

Would these socks work for skiing? Some of us have heated liners, so thinner socks are ok. Some of us don’t know if we still have 10 toes also and it might remind us uber males to count em up once in awhile…

Great sock. I used to have blisters on my toes when going more than 13-14km. With Injinji toe sock, the risk of having blister are great reduced though not completely eliminated (I only got one blister with my 60km walk). But it is a bit expensive and it is not that durable.
