Fyxomatosis Free Chainring Replacement
Fyxomatosis will send you a new chainring in the mail if you manage to wear one out in the course of a year. The Australian fixed-gear company requires that the wear comes through normal use, so if you buy one of the $88 chainrings and put it on a wind chime don’t try to collect. At $88 to $99 per chainring, you have to assume that even if Fyxomatosis sends you two or three rings their still making money on the transaction.

I think point is most people don’t ride enough to wear out an 1/8 chainring in a year, and only couriers do - so as ex-couriers they’re looking after their own
At least they’re made in Oz and they ride. As if sugino do their own product ‘thrashing’
THERE you go.
their, they’re, there.

We wear out chainrings a lot, I’ve got a rooted 3mm Sugino chainring that’s under a year old, track sprint training, not a lot of miles but a lot of torque from standing and low speed starts etc. If all you do is tootle around on baby gears on the street posing for your pals, sure, chainrings will last ages. The ones on Fyxomatosis look like they’re made by Cycle Underground using pattern 4, Fyxomatosis is getting them to stamp the rings for him with his brand name. More here :

I haven’t spoken to Andy about them, but it looks like he’s giving a 1 year warranty for a small markup on CU’s retail prices, with his branding (fyxomatosis). Seems pretty fair to me. You can get the chainrings direct from the maker for a bit less, without the year’s warranty or the stigma of cool that rubs off from Fyxomatosis branded gear. Some people pay a fortune for ‘cool’. It looks like his (fyxo) polished rings are cheaper than bought direct from CU, $100 vs $115. Not a bad deal if that’s what you’re after.
