Extremely Expensive Candy Bars Have New Flavors

larabar_jocolat

If you’ve never had a Larabar then you should try at least one. They’re easily among the best tasting energy bars available—so good that “organic candy bar” would be a better descriptor. They’re organic, vegan, soy, loaded with calories and cost significantly more than a cut of filet mignon of the same weight. They’re like vegan steaks.

Larabar recently rolled out a few new flavors: Chocolate Cherry, Peanut Butter Cookie, Chocolate Hazelnut, and Coconut Cream Pie. The Cashew Cookie is still my top choice, but I can’t eat them too often since one bar costs the same as a Whopper meal deal from Burger King. If you find a place that sells these cheaply let me know.

Amazon has 3-variety 18 packs for just over $20. If you subscribe and save (automatically ship a box ever 2 months, etc), they take 15% off. About a dollar a piece then.

Costco, at least in the Seattle area. They’re just under $1 a bar.

From their site they run between 1.50 and 2 bucks per bar. You have to buy a box of 16 but the flavor choices are wide.

Trader Joe’s carries them for $1.29 a bar but they only have a few flavors. I agree that Cashew Cookie is the best…And a minor correction to your post - there’s no soy in them and they’re raw, which is another plus.

I’ve found them at Grocery Outlet for 50 cents each. The apple and cherry pie are my favorites. Num num num!! :)

Lara Bars do not contain soy, but they are vegan friendly. Most are date and nut based, and the jocolat series all contain coacoa….super yummi for sure. Larabar was just acquired by General Mills in June…hopefully they will remain true to the original product concept.
