Snowmobiles Banned in Yellowstone by God Her(Him)self
A federal judge ordered that snowmobiles be banned from Yellowstone National Park striking down a Bush Administration law that allowed 500 snowmobilers to travel through the park per day. It looks like Cheney missed one or two liberal judges in his culling of the Justice Department a few years back (must be one of the leftover guys Clinton appointed after he fired everyone the first time around).
Wyoming senators are predictably upset about the whole thing since their only mode of transportation is a snowmobile and going around the park on the trip to Washington takes way too long. Either way, the decision is bound to be controversial, but for now chalk one up for the non-motorized crowd.

So does any judge you disagree with get tagged as “tree-hugging liberal judges over stepping their authority”? If the judge was making up data or something similarly egregious, it might be easier to find him an exception. In his ruling, he used NPS data. Yes, you may find his ruling disagreeable, but that doesn’t make him a nutjob. The case has been going on for years because it isn’t as clear cut as you would like to portray. The way our court system is set up, only one side can win.
Are we going to have to hear about the liberal judges feeding all your big bull elks to the illegal immigrant wolves next?

Being a native son of the Cowboy State I may know more about this issue than you give me credit for. Yes, the battle has been going on for years and no doubt before the snow falls there will be another ruling over turning this recent one. It is after all just about the money right?
Are all judges I disagree with tree-huggers? No, but it’s interesting that most of those that I disagree with “seem” to favor a more liberal agenda and “appear” to favor judicial legislation over simply reading the Constitution and enforcing it as per their job description. I’m all for power to the people, not the judgment bar.
By the way, don’t worry about those migrating wolves, we’ve already cleared them out of our hunting grounds. That short-lived open season was pleasant.

I’m not questioning your knowledge, more your language. Just as in your second post (”simply reading the Constitution”), you seem to draw very clear lines. I’m just saying I doubt it’s so clear. Yes, this is a federal judge ruling about a federal matter, but there is far more involved than simply the constitution. The park was created after the constitution, as were snowmobiles.
There sure were a lot of big elk out when I was in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago. The wolves must be cherry picking the lame and weak, so all that’s left are the big and strong. They might actually be benefiting you. Weird, huh?

Come on, come on… don’t hate on the snowmobile’s. It’s all good. Yes, Yellowstone has amazing wildlife and sick mtns… so lets ALL enjoy it! Don’t be jealous, just because we can cover more ground in 5 minutes on a sled, then you’d be able to in a week.

Snowmobiles should not be banned. We should share the wilderness. If it comes down to it park rangers can enforce a noise restriction, and there already was an emmisions restriction when snowmobiles were allowed in the park. So quit crying about loud noises and two stroke fumes. If your such an environmentalist stay out of the park all together because walking through the forest does more damage to its environment than a snowmobile does. Its proven and taught at all snowmobile saftey courses.
