USGS Photo Archive Posted Online

The United States Geological Survey is scanning their photographic archives and indexing them online. So far they’ve uploaded about 40,000 high-res images of life in the Old West. They’d go well with the 1941 writer’s project that has been republished online. The writers’ project is a mess of travel guides commissioned by the U.S. Government’s Works Project Administration and shouldered by some pretty famous writers.
This is the future of writing in the digital environment of the web and Kindles—instead of producing new content, we’ll just scan old stuff that we won’t have to pay for.
