Yakima SkyBox LoPro 15 Cargo Box with Solar Panel
The Yakima SkyBox LoPro 15 Cargo Box due out in Spring 2009 comes with a solar panel on top that runs a dome light inside your box. It’ll be nice for rummaging around at night or reading if you decide to sleep in your cargo box—better hope no one steals your car. The Yakima LoPro 15 will cost about $700.

Some of my friends call these cargo boxes “Wife Racks”
Thank God there will finally be a light inside, it was always so dark.

Or you can just by a friggin’ flashlight and save $300, suckers.

Sweet. Another chance to pay way too much for an underutilized PV panel. How quaint.
They could probably spend way less and have a much bigger efficiency gain paying some unemployed teenager to take the damn thing off their vehicle the 9 months out of the year they don’t put anything in it.

A very cool idea. Ask WhiskyTango how he likes the taste of the flashlight he’ll be holding in his mouth. I assume the solar part means no batteries, which is also a great idea. I’m buying one!

Agree with topoftheheap. I have a box and am unloading/loading at night more than you’d think. Can’t ever find that flashlight or the batteries are dead! This is way better than all those cheap and relatively useless solar garden lights out there….way to go Yakima.
