Impressive Show of Patience and Force When Police Beat the Crap Out of Cyclist
Just watch this NYPD cop cherry pick the guy at the very end of the line to take down. It’s a pretty impressive tackle, and you have to feel sorry for the biker who got crushed because he’s probably still in jail since his buddies can’t raise enough money to bail him out on that obstruction of justice charge. An outrageous video.

Amazing. Just converted me. I would have never done the Critical Mass thing before but I hope I’m stateside for one of them now. Way too much violence and no reason for this one.

Most of those yahoos probably would have stopped if the cops waved them down and stood in their way. The cop should lose his badge. That was a pathetic call on his part. The only thing he was defending was the mistaken notion that everyone in a motorized vehicle shouldn’t have to be bothered by anyone else using the road or use that pedal to the left of the gas.

jon, nice video… that’s one of the reasons I stopped participating in these rides. Some of these riders need to have some respect for the traffic rules and stop acting like victims. Imagine, cars and cyclists living together, respecting each other. You might say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

i hate these self absorbed pricks, they have no regard for anybody else but themselves. i, along with many thousands of other bikers, pedestrians, and drivers, have to suffer through their selfish antics when we commute the times square/midtown area. not only are idiot bikers a major nusance and safety hazards, CM ultimately acts counterproductively to their “cause” since their actions only draw negative publicity and resentment towards bikers and cause more traffic problems which invariably leads to greater pollution. i’m all for riding bikes and do so myself for the convenience and lesser enviromental impact but NYC already has take great steps to accomodate bikers, even installing bikes lanes in F*CKING times square! don’t hinder this with more “zany” rides through times square, columbus circle, etc. btw, that cop deserves a mother fcking big ass official medal from the president for doing the right thing, i know for sure 100k people passing by wanted to taser those aholes until they crapped their pants.

Hey, what do you know, a bunch of dick bike riders found themselves a dick cop. I’m still trying to figure out how the CM rides promote any positive change. Seems all they do is piss everyone off and cement the hatred of bicycles by motorists. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the ones in Minneapolis spool up one of their corkscrews in front of the light rail and get about 20 bikers run the hell over. Won’t that just smack of irony….
Still that was a quite a dick cop move. Though maybe he shouted “He’s comin’ right for us!” before striking.

I’d like to think the biker was threatening some small child and his mother right before he came into the video. That would seem like a valid reason to lay that guy out. I kind of doubt it though.
I don’t understand the big deal - isn’t this why most people ride in the critical mass? For a chance to get in a fight?

I hope that biker sues the NYPD to the point of bankruptcy. That cop’s partner should have been beating down the officer for doing something that stupid.
