14-Year-Old Minnesota Girl Bikes To Washington D.C. to Hand Deliver Petition

Showing remarkable media savvy for a 14-year-old, this Minnesota girl rode her bike from the Midwest to Washington D.C. over 32 days to hand deliver a petition calling for…I don’t know, something that had to do with bikes, probably. The newspaper article is woefully short on details about what kind of bike she rode, whether she was a runaway, and whether or not she stuck to the Interstate system. I suppose they don’t want to inspire more 14-year-olds to runaway from home and chase their dreams.

Update: New version of article available. I’ll fill in the blanks for you: Not a runaway, parents followed in SUV, last name is “Stoner,” and petition was to promote environmentally-friendly vehicles—plus, the 14-year-old pointed out the irony of a 32-day ride with an SUV support vehicle to promote emission-free cars.

I’m sure it was a hybrid SUV. Kind of green…like heli-skiing.

Bike in the picture looks like a Tarmac.
