Brietling Sea Wolf ‘Truly’ Waterproof Watch

seawolf-chrono

You’ll notice that product descriptions refer to most watches as water-resistant instead of waterproof if you’re one of those people who read online product descriptions with an anal zeal for details. They have to refer to watches as “water-resistant” since you can’t push buttons on most watches at depth without compromising the integrity of the watch to the point where it maybe could possibly leak. Not so with the Breitling Sea Wolf. This watch laughably priced at $3000 is truly waterproof since it uses magnets within the watch to actuate the buttons so you won’t have to worry about leaks. Of course, you could buy about 25 water-resistant watches for that price and forget your worries, too.

Last summer I purchased a beefy Casio Pathfinder that’s good up to 300 feet and makes me feel like a man. Last week I purchased a Zodiac good down to 1000 feet which is Red October territory. I’ve never been deeper than 10 feet in my life. I’m pretty sure my watches won’t leak in the community pool so I laugh at the prospect of spending 3000 dollars for a “truly” waterproof watch.

The Breitling Emergency, however, is worth the dough.

My watch is black, and it doesn’t have any buttons. I really just wanted to point out the harmonious way in which “anal zeal” rolls off the tongue.

I just carry a sun dial with me at all times, it’s made of stone so it will still be intact at the bottom of the ocean.
