Guy Walking Around World For Next 7 Years, Kelty Picks up Tab
Kelty’s sponsoring Daren Wendell on a 7-year walking trip that will take him all the way around the world. Kelty is outfitting the plucky modern day Johnny Appleseed with a backpack, two-person tent (for when he meets ladies), and a Light Year 20F Down Sleeping Bag. Not to diminish the scope of this trip, but has anyone ever made a trip around the world under only wind and human power while sticking to within 25 miles of one longitudinal parallel? I don’t think so—might be a fun project for someone besides me. This insanely ambitious walking trip that’ll take a 7-year chunk out of Wendell’s life will take him across 14 countries and 17 time zones. He’s doing it to try and educate people about the international water crisis, and he leaves tomorrow.

Im sure you mean ‘latitude’, not ‘longitudinal parallel’, otherwise he’ll need a heck of a lot more than a 20F down bag, because he’d be crossing the north and south poles. And lines of longitude are not parallel.
