White Booties: Urban Cycling Dork Status Symbol
This is a trend I would like to see move from the over 40 Master’s racing crowd down to the hipsterati fixie riders cruising through West Williamsburg or The Mission. Instead of bright white Assos of Switzerland shoe covers, they would wear gym tube socks pulled over jeans already tighter than spandex shorts. After they catch a glimpse of themselves in a dirty record store window, maybe the touring bike revolution will began and I can finally join the ranks of cool urban riders.

I am very doubtful that you’re rolling around manhattan with front and rear racks on a touring frame. The fixeratie that you speak of will be super into these in about 20 years when they are vintage. Assos gear is for chuckle-headed, douchey, date-rapist racers anyway. Not to say that that’s all racers, just a bunch of them (from my experience at least - my teammates are not included in this mass generalization).
