The Hanging Cocoon Emergency Outdoor Survival Pod

cocoon_outdoor_survival

The Survival Cocoon looks like something that someone with no outdoor experience, background, or common sense might develop as their contribution to the outdoor sporting world. In a survival situation, you’re supposed to hang it from a tree and then sit inside to await rescue. Never mind that hanging off the ground in a hammock won’t keep you warm—how the hell are you supposed to get it into the tree? Not to mention that these picture-perfect trees are never around when you need to hang a food bag, it’ll be impossible to find one while stumbling around with hypothermia. Also, the Cocoon’s hunched-over sitting-in-a-sling position looks so uncomfortable that I would welcome death after waiting for five minutes.

Speaking of hypothermia….has anyone seen a giant blue scrotum lately?

This has to be some sort of senior design project by someone who has never spent a night out in the cold. No way this thing is really for sale.

Just a pinata for the bears! Epic!

Bear Grylls must have came up with this idea ether when he was drinking water from elephant dung or It might have when he was jumping off a cliff on to a tree to shimmy himself down. Both are really good ideas to do when in a survival situation, that is if you have a T.V. crew with you that will get you to safety if you hurt your self. Because we all know every one who gets lost has a T.V. with them. After a lot more thought I bet you and I live in Las Vegas so I know bet’s he probably came up with the idea when he was sitting in his hot bath after getting flown out of the bush for the night because it was a little to cold.

I can’t believe that that thing is real! Seems like the silly imagination of someone who has never slept outdoors.

I have to admit it was I that invented the human fruit container, err I mean out door survival thing. My cousin Yogi & I were tired of looking for lost hikers in the woods, since they blend in so well (heh). The bright blue makes finding this stationary snack really easy. Its shape also blocks sound, so it won’t hear my growling tummy when I walk up. Mmmmmmmm. People.

Apparently you guys know as little about being outdoors as the guy that invented this. Probably less. I have camped in a hammock and staying warm and dry is much easier in a big blue nylon sack than it would be sitting on the cold wet ground. Since you are in a sitting/curled position it will help maintain body heat as well. The idea is great if you know that there is a really good chance that you are going to be faced with something like being lost. Stay warm stay still prevent hypothermia. Great if one member of your lost team is too injured to walk.
