Surfing Hits Rock Bottom: Dog Surf Contests
Over 100 people showed up in Southern California to watch 47 dog lovers push their animals around on surfboards.
Toby, a shih tzu mix, took home first place with Stoli, a black lab, and OB Dude, a basset mix, following closely behind in the first heat. Zoey, a Jack Russell terrier, came in first place and OB Dude and Pogey, a poodle mix, brought home second and third place, respectively, in the second heat of surf dogs and their owners surfing together.

I started surfing about 40 years ago…and still suck at it. Loved dogs even longer. Never, ever had my dog follow me into the lineup. Maybe the dog wanted to ride with someone better but I’m thinking this is more owner-ego than some karmic bonding with Neptune.

Not sure where these results came from, but they are not correct regarding overall winners.
First place went to Buddy the surfing jack russell terrier from Ventura. Buddy took home a new BZ softboard.
Second place was Saint, the golden from Morro Bay.
A fun day had by all!
Peace!
