I forgot the name of this MSR Tent technology slated to come out in spring 2008 the moment I heard it, but I remember thinking “Halo Wing” would have been a better name for it anyway. The tent relies on two poles run through full-length sleeves for the freestanding structure, and then an additional pole wraps all the way around the top. The top “Halo Fire” pole pulls the tent walls out to create more headroom inside the tent. The MSR MoSpace Tent line will be out in two- and three-person varieties. Prices and actual weights aren’t available, but the people at MSR said these tents are made for people who mostly car or canoe camp and then might take a couple backpacking trips a summer.
