Border Patrol Flashlight for Camping
Waving Surefire’s The Beast Flashlight around will be a lot of fun until airplanes start landing on your campsite. This monstrous overkill of a flashlight puts out 2000 lumens of power—that’s the same power used on airplane landing lights and home cinema projectors. It runs for 1.5 hours on 20 batteries, but the good news is that it’ll only take moments to melt your friends’ corneas, so you won’t need to run it for very long. It was made for border patrol and costs about $7000, which helps explain why the Berlin-style wall on the Mexican border is the cost-effective option.

I just saw this at the Outdoor Retailer show. The light is 2300 lumens and is only about $4200 U.S. (haha, only). It also comes with a rechargable lithium ion battery handle which is the primary power source for about 2.5 hours. The 20-battery package is intended as a reserve. The thing is bomb proof (not a quote) and is used by the Coast Guard and Navy as well as the border patrol as a search light. It’s freakin awesome! They are built to order.
