Insulated Evaporative Cooling Hat

The Insulated Evaporative Cooling Cap looks like something you would decide to buy from Sky Mall right before your plane crashed in the desert. The hat has a waterproof inner liner that rests against your skull, while the outside shell gets a dousing in your sink. The idea is that as the water evaporates it’ll keep your head cool. Hammacher Schlemmer claims it keeps your head up to 30 cooler than the outside air temperature, but they don’t bother saying what measurement system they’re using. Thirty degrees? Thirty ducks? Who knows. The hat sells for $25, but you could convert a conventional hat by simply soaking it in water and then wearing a swimmer’s cap underneath. Either way, it’ll get pretty hot without a breathable hat on your head.
