The Natural Relationship between Cycling and Bars

A bar that caters to cyclists by sponsoring teams, providing pressurized air, and selling tubes and energy bars is opening in Portland this summer. They’re also making a special drink for cyclists called The Radler, which is a blend of lemonade or lemon-lime soda and lager. Where I come from that’s called a Shandy and remains relegated to the hallways of the last sorority houses that still allow drinking. Hopworks Urban Brewery must be going after the lycra-clad bikers who don’t even take their helmets off when they sit at the bar—too bad that crowd doesn’t drink much. Hopworks will have to offer a Pabst special to bike messengers so they can stay in business.

[…] Just in time for the nice riding weather, there’s news of a new pub in Portland (I know, I know - like we need more pubs in this city). But wait, this one’s different - and that difference is why it merits a spot on the Cycling Logue. This one caters to cyclists. […]
