Bass Hole Open for Business

bass hole

What one of The Goat’s readers dubbed, the “Bass Hole” opened yesterday at Snowbird. The 600-foot tunnel connects Peruvian Gulch and Mineral Basin allowing skiers easier access to that side of the mountain. I know my friend Alex who once skied to the bottom of Mineral Basin only to find a closed chairlift would have been stoked on this idea about three years ago—that’s a lonely bootpack to the top.

Snowbird: Pioneering high-density gaper transit. Unsatisfied with the large, difficult to pass waves of asshats disgorging from the tram, they made the BassHole to expel a steady stream of steaming, semi-solid gaperdom.

be sure to look for the Techweenie at the head of the line.

Darn right, I’ll be wearing my Chicken-shaped hat and my rear-entry boots.

  4. Dave Says:

Techweenie, I would think that you would welcome a nice place for all the ‘gapers’ to gather, away from your precious fresh stash of freshies, or whatever the hell you hippies call powder snow these days.

As an approaching-middle-age gaper myself, I for one welcome our tunnel digging snow overlords. That Tram was stinky sometimes.

Chicken shaped hat and rear entry boots! Humm sounds kinky I might be into that.

So let me get this straight… people are expected to WALK 600 feet. I mean surely there must be a conveyor or something. Hey does anyone know if you can get qualified to ride a magic carpet wearing Walk-ease’s?

  7. Jimmymack Says:

Cool, Man this saves the day. I mean now they don’t have to worry about having any untouched snow in Mineral Basin after 9:15 am.

hail the tunnel….it takes a load off the tram. ride the tunnel and check out the sherpa inside running the coffee stand. He’s no gaper. This sherpa has the speed record for climbing everest. no joke
