By Steve Casimiro on March 21st, 2013

Williams_150Twenty years ago Michael Williams of Jamaica watched four of his countrymen compete in the bobsled at the Calgary Olympics. Now he wants to represents his country in skiing at the games in Sochi. But there are a few challenges. He’s 42. Also, until 2010 he didn’t know how to ski. No problem; he threw himself on the mercy of a coach at an indoor ski hill in Frankfurt, Germany, where Williams was living at the time he took up this Sisyphean task and began to train. And as of this season Williams has managed to not finish DFL at a few World Cup events, which is incredible in itself. And Williams once played in the NFL, so he’s been a top-flight athlete.
