Creature of the Deep Latches Onto ROV

An employee of Sub-sea Survey Company shot an email off to a few friends featuring a picture of a beast that’d latched onto one of their ROVs during a routine dive. “It measures a wee bit over 2.5 feet head to tail, and we expect it latched onto the ROV at roughly 8500ft depth,” he told them. One of his friends shared it on Reddit, and now you’re seeing it here. There’s so much we don’t know about the ocean, it’s too bad that some of what we don’t know is that unspeakably hideous monsters lurk in its depth. But, the ocean provides half of the oxygen we breathe and the bulk of the protein for the Earth’s inhabitants, so I guess you take the good with the bad.

I’d remove the shell, de-vein the critter and saute with some garlic, butter and white wine.
