Searchers found 51-year-old Robin Bird lying in mud along the Bluff Springs Trail at 11:30pm unresponsive and suffering from hypothermia and severe dehydration. Authorities say she would not have survived the night. The hiker was on a quest for the Lost Dutchman’s Gold, a storied cash of gold rumored to be hidden somewhere in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona. In December of last year, the hiker had also called in for rescue, though under less dire circumstances, and authorities had hoped she’d learn not to seek the Dutchman’s Fortune. Will she have to pay for this rescue? Unlikely, but if she does, it’ll be easy to pay off once she finally finds all that gold.

Idiots come out and die in the Superstitions every other year it seems looking for that mine that doesn’t exist. The best were the guys that Utah that came out for two (consecutive?) summers and had to be rescued the first and died the second summer in the intense summer heat.
