Fewer Skiers, but Resorts Still “Win” with More Gambling in Tahoe
By Rocky Thompson on February 11th, 2013While the conditions this year haven’t been so hot in Lake Tahoe the resorts are still reporting a rise in income based on their poor-person-taxes, also known as their “casinos.” The yearly increase in profits raised by casinos was about 1.5%, which doesn’t sound like much until you hear that it’s a nearly $11 billion industry. That 1.5% rounding error can make a lot of people rich, or a few people extremely rich. Come for the skiing, stay for the slots.
