Fewer Skiers, but Resorts Still “Win” with More Gambling in Tahoe

While the conditions this year haven’t been so hot in Lake Tahoe the resorts are still reporting a rise in income based on their poor-person-taxes, also known as their “casinos.” The yearly increase in profits raised by casinos was about 1.5%, which doesn’t sound like much until you hear that it’s a nearly $11 billion industry. That 1.5% rounding error can make a lot of people rich, or a few people extremely rich. Come for the skiing, stay for the slots.
