Following the debacle of the recall of their electronically heated Omni-Heat jackets, Columbia Sportswear has accounted that they’ve decided to cut the line. They left the door open, saying they might release more in 2014. While electric gear is useless to a lot of backcountry skiers, there are a lot of people out there who suffer from Raynaud’s or circulation issues, and they have a hard time getting and staying warm when they’re outdoors. Electronically heated gear can be a boon for them, unless of course the battery pack explodes and they get set on fire. Fortunately there were no such incidents, or even any injuries with the Columbia gear.
