Garrett McNamara Rides a (Really) Big Wave

Let the geeks over at Guinness figure out if this is a record-breaking wave. Who cares? The photo is amazing. Shot by To Mane in Praia do Norte, Portugal, Garrett McNamara looks like a man who just jumped off a building. This place is a big wave factory. A long trench runs up the seafloor ending just before the cliffs creating massive waves under the right conditions. Plus the cliffs mean there’s no backing out if you change your mind. An amazing ride (and photo). And, for the record keepers, if it turns out to be 100ft, it will break the McNamara’s old record of 78ft
