Snubbing Trek, Aaron Gwin Signs with Specialized

The most dominant American mountain biker of a generation and back-to-back World Cup overall downhill champion in 2011-12, Aaron Gwin is breaking a “letter of intent” with Trek and has joined Specialized, Trek’s arch rival in the U.S. cycling market. Whether Gwin can legally leave Trek is something for the lawyers to sort out — and they will. Trek has already said it may sue the 25-year-old downhiller, especially since defection a mere eight weeks before early season training camps and comps puts the brand in a lousy spot.
