Boulder Police Officer (Allegedly) Shoots Elk
By Rocky Thompson on January 4th, 2013A police officer in Boulder is under investigation for shooting an elk inside city limits while on duty, and then calling an off-duty officer to pick it up. They didn’t have permits, and it’s illegal to hunt within the city. The police union has yet to weigh in on whether the officer in question shot the trophy elk in self defense, or if the animal was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The police department hasn’t identified the officers in question, though you can read the nametag on the guy’s uniform in the photo he took while posing with the dead elk…though I’m sure he was just collecting evidence and this isn’t a clear abuse of power.
