An Ingredient in Beer Could Fight Colds

By Rocky Thompson on December 12th, 2012

A new study, that happens to be commissioned by Sapporo Breweries (don’t read anything into that, let’s give them the benefit of the doubt) has found that an active ingredient in beer could help the human body fight the virus behind colds. One small caveat is that an adult would have to drink about 30 cans of beer to get enough of humulone, the compound said to have this anti-viral superpower. Now, I’m not sure if those 30 cans have to be ingested on one sitting. On an unrelated note, I’ve mostly avoided getting a cold while everyone else in the office has been very sick.

Death from liver failure is a reliable way to avoid suffering the common cold.

One more reason beer with lots of hops is better.
