Police in Australia Recommend You Don’t Use Apple Maps

After their disastrous break with Google Maps, Apple is getting hammered for their garbage software. The tech giant suggested that users try some 3rd party mapping apps, and after several people became stranded in an Australian national park, authorities there agree. “Tests on the mapping system by police confirm the mapping systems lists Mildura in the middle of the Murray Sunset National Park, approximately 70km away from the actual location of Mildura.” A couple people were even stranded for over a day without adequate food or water. Now, don’t get me wrong, people who blindly follow directions into the middle of a park when they’re trying to reach a city aren’t without blame. I hope, for Apple’s sake, that litigation is not as strong a tradition in Australia as it is in America.
