Could The Canyons Resort Force Park City Mountain Resort Out of Business?

By Rocky Thompson on November 28th, 2012

A soap opera of Utah ski resorts played out in court yesterday when a judge dismissed several key parts of a lawsuit spat between Park City Mountain Resort and Talisker Corporation. The issue is that Talisker Corp leases the land PCMR is built on, but that lease ran out in April 2011 and PCMR didn’t renew in time. Talisker also happens to own PCMR competitor and Park City neighbor, The Canyons. PCMR maintained that Talisker should have told them well in advance that the lease was running out, but my question is, how on Earth does anyone running a ski resort forget to renew their land lease? Makes me wonder when the Backcountry.com URL will be up for renewal.
