First Documented (Illegal) Descent of Italy’s Marmore Falls
By Rocky Thompson on November 21st, 2012Kayaker Dario Vanacore ran the Marmore Falls in Italy once without any documentation, and hungry for a bit of acknowledgement for his feat, he headed back into the fray with a photographer in tow. The falls are a set of three drops, with the largest standing 81ft high. Vanacore stashed his boat and gear in an out-of-the-way area overnight, and then returned in the daytime in his street clothes to pass through the guarded area and make the (second) historic descent. At the bottom he paddled off without running into the authorities, but his name out there in all the kayaking blogs and magazines might make it a bit harder to continue evading the authorities. Epic TV has all the copyrighting photos.
