Bike Thief Gets 14 Years in Prison
By Rocky Thompson on November 21st, 2012Two days before a big race, the women’s pro cycling Team TIBCO had a lock cut off their trailer in Boise, Idaho and 13 bikes stolen. The very high-end, custom tailored bikes cost a staggering $100k. The thief, 19-year-old Michael Lawrence would have had a hard time selling the bikes and getting away with it since they were so easily identifiable. And, turns out, he didn’t get away with it. A judge sentenced him to 14 years in prison. Even if he only serves half the time, this has to be a record for consequences of bike theft.

I’m a very progressive person, but bike thieves make me question my stance against the death penalty.
