Canadians: Put On Your Ski Helmets Hosers

By Rocky Thompson on November 7th, 2012

A new law requiring skiers in Nova Scotia to wear helmets took effect yesterday, and scofflaws will be subject to $250 fines. Over the past decade this region of Canada has seen about one traumatic brain injury per year, and the new law seeks to reduce concussions. I suppose we get all “nanny state” upset but on the other hand, Canada has nationalized health care. Making people wear helmets is as much about protecting their health budgets as it is about saving lives. And at least they didn’t ban drinking Molsons while skiing.

Isn’t that a huge reason people are opposed to National HeathCare? (Not the helmet part per say) but being told what they can and can’t do as it relates to the cost of care? We’ve already started down that road banning huge soft drinks and toys in Happy Meals right?

C’mon Ben, we all know those toys have no nutritional value . . .

Ben, are you going to cry about seat belts next?

@Citizen I wasn’t going there but since you brought it up yeah actually I don’t think you should HAVE to wear a seat belt. Especially if you live in a state where motorcyclists don’t HAVE to wear a helmet. Whats the problem with that? Oh no someones got a differing opinion than your own, how scary….
