Climbing Trashed by Sporting Business for Olympics
By Rocky Thompson on October 22nd, 2012The magazine SportsPro, which caters to people in the business of sports, asked its readership what sport they’d most like to see included in the 2020 Olympics. Climbing came in with an abysmal .36% of the vote, beating only Wushu, a Chinese martial art. First place was “Roller sports,” which to me is a very vague and confusing category of sports. Do these execs and businesspeople want roller derby in the Olympics? Or maybe just roller skating races? I suppose it would help these businesspeople sell their Rollerblade inventory if the “sport” became popular again.

Roller sports preferred by 20:1 to baseball? Surely the last days.
