Now in their fourth year, the 2012 British Wildlife Photography Awards were announced this week and include some total stunners. There’s the overall winner, Matt Doggett’s incredible underwater shot (left) of gannets diving for fish off northern Scotland. But just as moving is Neil McIntre’s Red Stag portrait. And for one of those rare moments of just stopping to observe nature in an urban setting, this shot of starlings swarming under a pier in Wales is hard to top. Via National Geographic.
