National Parks System Map

By Rocky Thompson on August 7th, 2012

The Sierra Club put together this U.S. National Parks as a subway map. It really gives you an idea of how bleak the situation is on the East Coast. That’s a long ride form Acadia to Shenandoah. There are a few parks missing from this map by my rather hasty count; I see American Samoa didn’t make the list. Any others?

Yeah, the only park in Michigan that made the list was Isle Royale (don’t bother that the label for it is in Minnesota)… We’ve got at least two others that I can recall (Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rocks).

This map does not account for areas managed by the NPS, including the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on the Delaware River, and the newly created Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park (both in NJ), among others. Maybe the Sierra Club should provide the public (who are potential donors) with the whole picture, instead of a convenient infographic?

On another (entirely unrelated) point, a subway system hooking up all the parks would be awesome.
