LA Times Disses Seattle Over Snowstorm Response
By Steve Casimiro, Adventure Journal on January 19th, 2012
This is certainly ironic: The Los Angeles Times is calling out Seattle for mishandling this week’s dump of snow on the city, which saw 736 traffic accidents in the 24 hours after the snow started falling. Under the headline “Snow wimps: Seattle is shut down by first real snow of the season,” the Times also said, “Color Seattle clueless. The city has always marched unarmed into its infrequent battles with snow, and Wednesday’s snowstorm was no exception.” This from a city that hasn’t seen snow accumulation in the 25 years I’ve lived here. This from a city that nearly shuts down in a heavy rain. If ever there was a case of STFU, it right here, right now, to the LA Times. Via.
Absolutely agreed the LAT should STFU. I used to live in LA. A bit of rain will cause massive power outages. Especially the first rain of the year. “Color LA clueless. The city has always marched unarmed into its infrequent battles with rain…”
Yup LA it sucks up here. Never, ever, ever come up here. Please.
I dont know why LA would say crap… They don’t have snow an don’t know the situation up here. I live up on a hill and it is frozen solid. The city is doing what they can and stupid comments from a city that doesn’t have weather like us.
… is stupid.
So should we say then that your df because you never prepared for the fire season every year? See how dumb that sounds?
Good maybe less Cali people will come to Cascadia then. We dont want any more! STFU
yep, Seattle sucks, stay away! we have no clue!
When California breaks apart and falls in the water. Would it be okay to laugh and Call them wimps? Coz I bet they’ll freak out. Not saying it’s the same story as what were having. 12″ of snow at my house and a bunch of hills everywhere. Just not safe to be driving.
Not being a wimp, just being safe.
On behalf of New England, LA should shut up, but Seattle did do a pretty shitty job. Dont talk to me about hills either, I’ve lived alternately in the hills of north central mass and the berkshires and driven up steeper grades than any in Seattle in a foot or more of now with no problem. Its not your fault a city of the size of seattle has less plows than my town of 40,000 people, and its certainly not your fault you dont have cars chosen specifically for use in snow, the news should just stop making it out as a big deal and people should just stop complaining. Driving in the snow sucks, but its part of life.
