Berthoud Pass Skier Buried Up to His Neck
By Rocky Thompson on January 4th, 2012I suppose it’s better to be buried up to your neck than to only have your head buried. It’s tougher to call for help when your head is stuck in the snow, plus when your friends find your body with your shovel still strapped to your back and your head in the snow, they’ll have to tell people you died some other way. One Colorado skier who triggered a 300-foot-wide avalanche was dragged 400 vertical feet through a field of rocks before ending up entirely covered save for his face. His friends are way more mature than mine since I wouldn’t have been rescued until my friends had found a permanent marker to draw a big moustache on my face.
