I would rather have a rat crawl over my face while I was asleep than wake up with one of these in my tent. This massive cricket-looking-thing weighs as much as three mice and munches on carrots. Where they found a guy to hold it while they took the photo is beyond me. Fortunately it’s only found on a small barrier island in New Zealand right now. All of the sudden those customs questions about brining fruit or vegetables back into the country seem like they’re worth the extra hassle.
