Any pretense of journalism is gone from Discovery. The BBC series Frozen Planet, written and narrated by larger than life (with British accent) Da-vid At-ten-bor-ough, consists of seven episodes, but Discover won’t be running the seventh in the States because it’s afraid of upsetting American viewers who don’t believe in global warming. “On Thin Ice” tackles the vanishing wilderness at the poles, which most informed people acknowledge is due to a great extent by anthropogenic warming. So, does this mean Discovery doesn’t show globes or Google Earth perspectives, either, so as not to alienate those who still think the world is flat? Shameful.
